RANGE RULES
We, the members of Country Pond Fish & Game Club, Inc., insist on a safe environment for our club activities. We therefore endorse the following rules as a minimum effort to ensure our Members and guests well being.

GENERAL RULES
  • Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
  • Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
  • Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
  • Be sure of your target and what's beyond it.
  • Keep the action open and firearm unloaded until ready to use.
  • Do not fire any round before ensuring that all shooters are in position on the firing line and the range has been cleared for live firing.
  • Know how your firearm operates.
  • Be sure your firearm and ammunition are compatible.
  • Carry only one gauge/caliber of ammunition when shooting. When using more than one firearm, use one at a time. When finished with that firearm, secure it and its ammunition before using the next one.
  • Wear ear and eye protection while on the range.
  • Do not mix alcohol or drugs with shooting activities.
  • Obey all range commands.
  • Know where others are at all times. Be mindful of adjacent areas and act accordingly.
  • Shoot only at authorized targets
  • Ground level targets are not authorized without a proper backstop. Maintain the proper target height to ensure that the fired projectile, after passing through the target, hits the desired portion of the backstop.
  • Designate a range officer when none is present or assigned. The first person to arrive on the range shall act as range officer until a designated range officer is present.
  • Unload, open the action, remove the magazine, and ground and/or bench all firearms during cease-fire.
  • Do not handle any firearm or stand at the firing line where firearms are present while others are down range.
  • Never allow the muzzle to point in any direction whereby an inadvertent discharge would allow a projectile to leave the range.
  • Absolutely no alcoholic beverages are allowed on any Club range at any time.
  • No fully automatic firearms are allowed on any Club range at any time.

 

INDOOR RANGE RULES

  • While using indoor range, no rifles are allowed except 22-caliber rimfire. No rifle or shotgun ammunition, even though fired from a handgun is allowed.
    Exceptions: Black powder muzzle loading firearms, .45 Long Colt, and 44 Magnum pistol may be used.
  • The exhaust fan must be turned on before any firing has commenced.
  • All shooting shall be done from the approved firing line.
  • The indoor range is limited to paper targets that will fit between the target holders and the splatter board directly below the target holders.
  • The only exceptions for targets used on the indoor range shall be for special sanctioned events, with a club range officer present.
  • Firearms will not be taken down range unless carried in a holster designed for that firearm.
  • During the use of the indoor range the door to the outside must be kept closed.
  • The maximun strength of ammunition allowed on the indoor range is .44 Magnum. (i.e. .500 S&W, .454 Casull, .480 Ruger, and similar cartridges are not allowed.)

 

OUTDOOR RANGE RULES

  • Club provided 4 1/2 foot target frames must be used on the 50 foot, 50 yard, and 100 yard ranges.
  • No firing shall take place behind the front face of the 100-yard range house.

 

TRAP RANGE RULES

  • All firearms must be unloaded and racked when not in use.
  • All firearms must be carried to and from the firing line with actions open.
  • The line captain shall be the first shooter in line.
    • The captain shall ask, "Is the line ready? Is the scorer ready? Is the puller ready?"
    • If all are ready, the captain will ask, "May we see a bird please?"
    • The shooters, in turn, shall call for their own bird.
    • The scorer shall call "Change Stations" after each 5 rounds.

 

ARCHERY RANGE RULES

  • When at the line, you are at the line to shoot. Step back from the line for any other purpose (adjustments etc.).
  • When finished shooting, step back and wait for other shooters to finish.
  • When "Clear" is given, you may retrieve arrows, change targets, etc.
  • Any arrow shot or dropped that cannot be retrieved from the line will be left until Clear is given.
  • No Broadheads will be used on target range except at designated foam backstops. (Available at range)
  • No firearms will be shot on the Archery range.
  • Junior members must be accompanied be an adult member to shoot. (18 or older)
  • Absolutely no alcohol on range.

 

RANGE LOG

  • A range log shall be maintained on the indoor range for members. This log shall list the members name, badge number, the time the member logged in, the ranges used, the time the member logged out and the date and day of the week. All members shall log into the range log before shooting on any range.
  • Exceptions - Members shall not log into the range log for:
    • Scheduled activities such as pistol league, archery league, trap league, etc.
    • Scheduled events listed in the Club newsletter. Range badges are not required for these events.

 

GUESTS

  • If a member brings a guest, the member shall enter the name of the guest under member’s name and the town of residence in the badge number space. The word "guest" is insufficient without name and town.
  • The guest must be accompanied by the host member when shooting on the range.
  • No person may be a guest more than three times.
  • The club has open membership.
  • Former members are not eligible to be guests.

 

HOURS OF OPERATION

  • The indoor range is available to members 24 hours a day 7 days a week, except during certain Club sanctioned events.
  • The outdoor range is open every day from 9:00 AM to one half hour after sunset, except during certain Club sanctioned events.
  • The outdoor range is closed Sunday mornings 10:00 to Noon during Sunday Trap shooting.
  • Members are advised to call 603-382-5681 before coming to the Club to use any range. For their convenience, last minute changes will be recorded on the answering machine.
