*May 11th match is our "Happy Mothers Day - All Ladies Shoot Free" match

Clubhouse kitchen will be open
1:00pm to 2:30pm each match day

The Safety Meeting is at 11:45AM.

The match starts at Noon.

SASS membership is NOT required to participate.
Members made some great metal shoot out targets:
  • Metal drop down targets for the single action western revolver that ping when a shooter scores a hit
  • Knock down shotgun targets
  • Several targets for saddle mounted shots
There are four guns needed for the complete shoot; two western style single action revolvers, a double barrel shotgun or pump-action with external hammer, and a lever action pistol-caliber rifle.

Fun to shoot or just come and watch! Here's some photos of the action.

  • Mandatory Safety Meeting starts at High Noon. Match starts immediately after the Meeting.
  • Anyone and everyone who's interested is welcome, regardless of experience. Shooters under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
  • Each match consists of six stages. The course of fire will usually be posted on Piney Woods website at least one week before each match.
  • All of our stages are written to require two pistols, a lever-action rifle, and a double-barrel or pump shotgun.
  • Ammo Requirements:
    • Typically one box each of pistol, rifle, and shotgun will be needed per match
    • All rifles must be chambered for pistol caliber ammo only
    • Lead bullets only - No jacketed ammo allowed
    • All ammo should be target or light field loads - no "hot" loads
    • Shotgun ammo must contain #7 1/2 or smaller lead shot only
  • All SASS Safety Rules apply. For more info, check out the SASS Shooter's Handbook
  • SASS Rules on acceptable clothing and guns are interpreted loosely, but we do insist on the following:
    • No baseball-style caps
    • No modern running shoes, tennis shoes, or sneakers
    • No short-sleeve shirts
    • No nylon. plastic, or Velcro gear
(They just didn't have any of that stuff back in the 1800's)

  • CPF&G's Cowboy Shoots are held rain or shine. The covered firing line means we (unlike other clubs) never cancel a match due to weather.

Anyone who'd like to show up early to help set up targets, pr\ops, etc. is VERY welcome!

A Special thanks to Kurt For starting the Cowboy Shoot Events!
