Country Pond Fish and Game Club Acquires Additional Land
|
The Country Pond Fish and Game Club, Inc.
(CPF&G), located at 82 Pond Street in Newton, New Hampshire,
has recently purchased approximately 40 acres of land adjacent to
the Club's existing property on its north and west side. There
are two primary reasons the Club purchased this land.
First, and foremost, is the fact that with the increased
residential development in the area it was determined that
establishing a buffer around our facilities would be in our best
interest. CPF&G wishes to be a good neighbor within the
community and the acquisition of a sizeable amount of land around
our existing property would help eliminate potential issues with
bordering neighbors.
Second, CPF&G does have a need for a modest expansion of our
existing facilities. It is anticipated that we will construct a
parking area, an outdoor archery range and other recreational
areas on some of the land which was recently purchased. The
majority of the land which was purchased, however, will remain
undeveloped, in its natural state, and will provide a substantial
portion of the buffer referred to above.
In order to accommodate the site plans which we envision, a
certain amount of clearing and excavation are necessary,
specifically on the small portion of land directly north of our
facility on Pond Street. This land, which is less than ten acres,
is bordered by Pond Street on the east, the Boston and Maine
Railroad tracks on the north and west, and our own land on the
south. We have obtained the necessary permit for the clearing of
trees on this portion of the acquired property, and are in the
process of applying for the necessary permits for excavation and
site development. To a large degree the economic value of the
entire transaction depends on our ability to excavate and
reconfigure some of the land which was purchased and which is
zoned Light Industrial/Commercial. There are no plans to
significantly expand the scope of our Club's activities nor to
develop any of the purchased land which is zoned Residential..
We are fully aware that CPF&G must be a responsible neighbor.
We are diligently working with the Newton Planning Board and the
Newton Board of Selectmen to address our needs as well as the
needs of the community.

CPF&G Important Message Outdoor Range Notice
|
|
The outdoor rifle and pistol ranges
will be closed for a construction project the week of Monday,
March 22, 2004 through Friday, March 26, 2004.
|
Temporary Outdoor Range Closures
|
|
The outdoor rifle and pistol ranges will be closed periodically for construction work.
This work is required to comply with the agreement negotiated with the Newton Planning Board.
Weather and the availability of the construction crew will determine the closures. There is no
way to predict these closures so any time the construction crews are present, the outdoor
ranges will be closed. The officers and directors hope that this inconvenience to our members
is understood by all as necessary and unavoidable. If you have questions, contact any club
officer or director.
We will be holding work parties at the
club on April 24, 2004 and May 22, 2004 from 8AM to 4PM. Also on
these dates Spaghetti Dinner fundraisers will be held.
Volunteerism is our lifeblood. We need
you for the work parties. We cant function without your
help.
Thank you for your co-operation in
these matters.

Country Pond Fish and Game Club CPF&G Land Committees
|
|
The CPF&G Land Committee will continue to over-see issues regarding all land holdings of the Country Pond Fish and Game Club. The CPF&G Reclamation Project Committee will over-see the Outdoor Archery Range and parking lot project on the new land and over-see the reclamation of same.
Unfortunately the same members are on both committees. Any members interested in helping to shape the future of the club should consider serving on either land committee depending on their interests.
